Google has changed how it creates titles for search result listings
Marketers: Google no longer uses the query to generate titles but still users HTML title tags 80% of the time.
But why does it matter?

Google said that the: “update is designed to produce more readable and accessible titles for pages. In some cases, we may add site names where that is seen as helpful.

In other instances, when encountering an extremely long title, we might select the most relevant portion rather than starting at the beginning and truncating more useful parts.”

Whilst Google said many of these changes should be positive, we have already seen some weird and wonderful examples of titles.

The good news is that the search engine company is said to be making tweaks to the new system based on feedback received to fix those that do not make sense.
