Testimony
The kingdom of Babylon had
fallen to Darius the Mede. It was placed under the jurisdiction of 120 princes,
who in turn were responsible to three presidents, of whom Daniel was number
one. He so conducted himself in that high office that Darius 'thought to set
him over the whole realm'. However, the other presidents and princes --
apparently jealous of this Hebrew -- began to devise means of getting rid of
him. In their time there wasn't anything like the FBI, but I'm sure that in
some way they had Daniel placed under surveillance day and night with the
orders, 'Watch that man!' Investigate him thoroughly. Report anything
which might be used to bring about his demotion". But, hard as they tried,
'they could find none occasion nor fault; for......... he was faithful, neither
was there any error or fault in him'. What a record! What a testimony! In his secular
employment he was loyal to his superior and conscientiously performed his
duties, all the while giving God first place. That's why they said, 'We shall
not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him
concerning the law of his God', So far above reproach was Daniel's life that
they had to manipulate things to 'create' a situation where his 'religion'
would come into conflict with his 'government job'.
I wonder, how would we
stand under such an examination? In our places of employment, are we so
faithful in fulfilling the obligations of our position that our fellow workers
can 'find none occasion nor fault'? It's wonderful to speak about Christ to
others, but the influence of a life so lived, a job so faithfully performed
that others find 'no error or fault' is something that silences the critic,
'speaks' with great eloquence, and glorifies God.
The world judges your
faithfulness not so much by what you profess, as by what you practice.
In the same way, let your
light shine
before men, that they may see
your good deeds and praise
Your Father in heaven.
Matthew
5: 16

this message with others... Cramming Some time ago 'The Grand Rapids Press' carried an article about a man 91
years of age. Introduced as a guest at a luncheon for retired people, he
told them he divided his time between reading and attending meetings of the
American Association of Retired Persons. Asked what he read, he replied,
"The Bible". His questioner expressed surprise that at 91 he was just
now consulting that Book. "Oh, I've read it before", he
explained, "but I'm cramming for the finals!" It certainly was commendable for this elderly gentleman to be occupied
with the Word of God as he faced up to the brevity of life, but one
doesn't "cram for the finals" in that way! While we should
study the Scriptures and learn all we can about them, the important thing is to
be sure first of all that we know the Christ of the Bible as a personal Savior,
for only then through the Holy Spirit's power will we be able to put into
practice the teachings of the Scriptures. Just 'cramming' and getting a lot of head knowledge is not very profitable. Some people
can quote the Bible Books backward as well as forward, and recite many favorite
passages, but have never translated that knowledge into 'action'. James says,
"Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it
says" (James 1: 22). In Romans 14: 10 we are told that "Christian
shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ" where "every
man's work shall be made manifest...... because it shall be revealed by fire;
and the fire shall test every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's
work abide which he has built upon it, he shall receive a reward. If any man's
work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet
as by fire" (1-Corinthians 3: 13 - 15). The best way to prepare "for
the finals" is not by 'cramming' at the last minute, but starting
as early as possible to receive the Word of faith, and then to be 'doers' of it
as well! The Word of God by
faith receivedImparts
regeneration;And he who has in
Christ believed,Lives out a new
creation. Regarding the Bible, we should know it in our heads, stow it in our
hearts, and show it in our lives! Each
one should use whatever gift hehas received
to serve others, faithfullyadministering
God's grace in its variousforms.
If anyone speaks, he should do itas
one speaking the very Words of God.If
anyone serves, he should do it withthe
strength God provides, so that in allthings
God may be praised throughJesus
Christ. To Him be the glory and the
power for ever and ever. Amen.1-Peter 4: 10, 11 …………………………………..(Christian Messages)Facebook Page: Amory Dixon...............................................................X

Two views of life
Every year thousands of
people commit suicide; in fact, the number of such deaths has been increasing
at an alarming rate. The reason is not difficult to discover. Most
educated people who do not know Jesus Christ believe we are the accidental
products of evolution. They say there is nothing that has lasting value, and
our actions whether good or bad are not of eternal consequence. In other words,
they reject the idea of Heaven or Hell after death. As a result, most of these
individuals are wretchedly unhappy, even though they may give themselves quite
unreservedly to sensual pleasures. Without faith in God, life is absurd,
tragic, and meaningless. Although it is popular to think in terms of living
without God, it is becoming increasingly evident that human beings, created in
the likeness and image of God, cannot live with such a concept.
We see evidence of this in
modern art. Many of us have laughed as we stood before such so-called
'masterpieces'. All we could see was an apparently meaningless mixture of
lines, blots, and blurs. Yet these works are considered great from the artistic
point of view because through them the painter has expressed his utter
frustration with life as he sees it. They exhibit the feelings of his tortured
soul. Indeed, some artists have committed suicide right after the
completion of such a painting. The world is going mad because men who have been
made for God are trying to live without Him!
How utterly different was
Paul's concept. Because of Jesus Christ, life for him had real
meaning. He looked forward to Heaven where he would receive a glorious
reward for earthly faithfulness (2-Timothy 4: 8). If you know Christ
personally, thank God for the difference He makes. Then share this good
news with others.
Life is the seedtime of eternity!
For to me, to live is Christ
and to die is gain.

Pillows
In prayer meeting at church
one night, one of the ladies shared a story she had heard that morning about a
woman in the hospital. In the days prior to her operation, the afflicted
woman spent much time in prayer and Bible study and found three verses which
brought special comfort. They had to do with God's love, His mercy,
and His wonderful grace. She thought of these three Scripture passages
as 'pillows', since she was resting
upon them in a very special way in view of the coming surgery.
As she came out of the
anesthetic following the operation, she grasped for one of the pillows on her
bed. The doctor quickly stopped her and said, "I'm sorry, but
you can't use that since it's very important that you lie perfectly still and
remain on your back". "Well, doctor", the woman
replied, "you may keep that pillow from me, but I have three of my own
that you can't take away". The doctor assumed she wasn't fully
conscious and humored her, saying, "Three pillows of your own? I
don't see any!" More alert than the doctor imagined, the patient
explained that three Bible verses had become her 'pillows of comfort' as she
prepared for surgery. "My first pillow is Romans 8: 38, 39
For I am convinced that
neither death nor life,
neither angels nor demons,
neither the present
nor the future, nor any
powers, neither height
nor depth, nor anything else
in all creation,
will be able to separate us
from the love
of God that is in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
My second pillow is Psalm 13:5
But I trust in Your unfailing
love;
my heart rejoices in Your
salvation.
And my third is Ephesians 2:8
For it is by grace you have
been saved,
through faith -- and this not
from
yourselves, it is the gift of
God.
These are my three pillows that you can't take
away, doctor, and I am resting upon them!" Leaving the room, the
physician paused a moment in the doorway and whispered to her nurse,
"We don't have to worry about her. She'll be well in no time!"
Though I do not know the reason,
I can trust, and so am blest;
God is love, and God is faithful,
So in perfect peace I rest.
God's good promises put a
rainbow of hope in every cloud and a 'pillow of grace' in every bed of
affliction!

Don't miss it
At the time Hebrews 10:25 ("Let us not give
up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage
one another -- and all the more as you see the Day approaching") was written, Jewish
believers were experiencing great persecution. They were being watched,
beaten, and some were even killed. Any defection from their profession of faith
was a source of great satisfaction to the enemies of Christ. One way which
demonstrated to the world that they were holding fast the profession of their
faith was their assembling together. Someone wrote, "Forced absence from
God's ordinances and forced presence with wicked people are great afflictions;
but when the force ceases and such a situation is continued of choice, then it
becomes a great sin". Some are unavoidably detained from meeting with
other believers. Prolonged illness, an unalterable work schedule, residence in
a remote area -- these could be legitimate reasons why one could not
gather with other Christians, for fellowship and instruction. To
such comes the encouragement of His Word. "Where two or three are
together in My Name, there I am in the midst of them" (Matthew 18: 20)
Every Christian should
desire to be with God's people when they assemble. The church service is
where the power of the Word is brought to bear upon the hearts and lives of
those who profess to be children of God. I remember well the little
widow in our home church who with her eight children walked nearly two
miles summer and winter in order to meet with other Christians. She has
seen the influence of that training multiplied in the lives of her son and
daughters.
Christ's promise to be in
the midst should be sufficient incentive for every believer to be present.
Let us not give up
meeting together,
as some are in the habit of
doing,
but let us encourage one
another --
and all the more as you see
the Day approaching.

Bryan
He almost didn't see the old lady, stranded on the side of the road. But even in the dim light of this day, he could see she needed help. So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still sputtering when he approached her. Even with the smile on his face, she was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so ... was he going to hurt her? He didn't look safe, he looked poor and hungry. He could see that she was frightened, standing out there in the cold. He knew how she felt. It was that chill which only fear can put in you. He said, "I'm here to help you ma'am. Why don't you wait in the car where it's warm? By the way, my name is Bryan."
Well, all she had was a flat tire, but for an old lady, that was bad enough. Bryan crawled under the car looking for a place to put the jack, skinning his knuckles a time or two. Soon he was able to change the tire. But he had to get dirty and his hands hurt. As he was tightening up the lug nuts, she rolled down the window and began to talk to him. She told him that she was from St. Louis and was only just passing through. She couldn't thank him enough for coming to her aid.
Bryan just smiled as he closed her trunk. She asked him how much she owed him. Any amount would have been all right with her. She already imagined all the awful things that could have happened had he not stopped. Bryan never thought twice about the money. This was not a job to him. This was helping someone in need, and God knows there were plenty who had given him a hand in the past. He had lived his whole life that way, and it never occurred to him to act any other way. He told her that if she really wanted to pay him back, the next time she saw someone who needed help, she could give that person the assistance they needed, and Bryan added, "... and think of me." He waited until she started her car and drove off. It had been a cold and depressing day, but he felt good as he headed for home, disappearing into the twilight.
A few miles down the road the lady saw a small cafe. She went in to grab a bite to eat, and take the chill off before she made the last leg of her trip home. It was a dingy looking restaurant. Outside were two old gas pumps. The whole scene was unfamiliar to her. The cash register was like the telephone of an out-of-work actor-- it didn't ring much. Her waitress came over and brought a clean towel to wipe her wet hair. She had a sweet smile, one that even being on her feet for the whole day couldn't erase. The lady noticed the waitress was nearly eight months pregnant, but she never let the strain and aches change her attitude. The old lady wondered how someone who had so little could be so giving to a stranger. Then she remembered Bryan. After the lady finished her meal, and the waitress went to get change for her hundred dollar bill, the lady slipped right out the door. She was gone by the time the waitress came back. The waitress wondered where the lady could be, then she noticed something written on the napkin under which was four $100 bills. There were tears in her eyes when she read what the lady wrote: "You don't owe me anything, I have been there too. Somebody once helped me out, the way I'm helping you. If you really want to pay me back, here is what you do: Do not let this chain of love end with you."
Well, there were tables to clear, sugar bowls to fill, and people to serve, but the waitress made it through another day. That night when she got home from work and climbed into bed, she was thinking about the money and what the lady had written. How could the lady have known how much she and her husband needed it? With the baby due next month, it was going to be hard. She knew how worried her husband was, and as he lay sleeping next to her, she gave him a soft kiss and whispered soft and low, "Everything's gonna be all right; I love you, Bryan." Nobody should seekhis own good, butthe good of others.1-Corinthians 10: 24

Share this message with others... Personal Relationship Bouhamsy was born to an extremely poor family in India, and from a very early age had to go out and beg on the streets. He did not have the right to attend school, play and have fun as did other children his age. His father, like many others of his social status, was an alcoholic.
If Bouhamsy didn't arrive home with money, he would surely receive a beating from his father. In the midst of this situation, the boy would always observe his mother, on her knees, praying to the image of a woman, asking her for help. From time to time Bouhamsy accompanied her to a chapel, and there his mother would pray for the help of other plaster images (Exodus 20:4, 5). All that taught the boy that there were those who could help him, even though they were dead. His mother told him that they were mediators who could help him to reach God.
When he was 10 years old, Bouhamsy couldn't take any more from his father and he went to live on the streets. Since his mother had taught him to pray to images and not to God, his childish mind perceived that God was terrible, mean, that He despised people, that no one could ask Him for anything personally. Besides, he had known only misery and the rejection of his father who supposedly should have given him love and protection.
One day Bouhamsy found a paper in the street that said, "God loves you". This produced a reaction of indignation in him, but he continued to read, and to his surprise he found that God really did love him. God was the God of love, full of mercy, and Jesus Christ had given His own life so that we could have a "personal relationship with God".
Yes, Bouhamsy found what you may be searching for in this very moment, a personal relationship with Christ.
Read carefully what the Bible says:
For there is one God, and
one mediator between God and men,
the man, Christ Jesus

Pennies are plentiful
Several
years ago, a friend of mine and her husband were invited to spend the weekend
at the husband's employer's home. My friend, Arlene, was nervous about the
weekend. The boss was wealthy, with a fine home on the water-way, and cars
costing more than her house. The first day and evening went well, and Arlene
was delighted to have this rare glimpse into how the wealthy live and delighted
they were relaxing to be around. She was enjoying her time.
The husband's employer was quite generous as a host, and took them to the
finest restaurants. Arlene knew she would never have the opportunity to
indulge in this kind of extravagance again, so was enjoying herself immensely.
As the three of them were about to enter an exclusive restaurant that evening,
the boss was walking slightly ahead of Arlene and her husband. He stopped
suddenly, looking down on the pavement for a long, silent moment.
Arlene wondered if she was supposed to pass him. There was nothing on the
ground except a single darkened penny that someone had dropped, and a few
cigarette butts. Still silent, the man reached down and picked up the penny.
He held it up and smiled, then put it in his pocket as if he had found a
great treasure.
How absurd! What need did this man have for a single penny? Why would he even
take the time to stop and pick it up?
Throughout dinner, the entire scene nagged at her. Finally, she could stand it
no longer. She causally mentioned that her daughter once had a coin collection,
and asked if the penny he had found had been of some value.
A smile crept across the man's face as he reached into his pocket for the penny
and held it out for her to see. She had seen many pennies before! What was the
point of his? "Look at it." He said. "Read what it says."
She read the words "United
States of America." "No, not that;
read further." "One cent?" "No, keep reading."
"In God we Trust?" "Yes!" " And?"
"And, if I trust in God, the name of God is holy, even
on a coin. Whenever I find a coin I see that inscription. It is written
on every single United
States coin, but we never seem to notice it!
God drops a message right in front of me telling me to
trust Him? Who am I to pass it by? When I see a coin, I pray, I stop
to see if my trust IS in God at that moment. I pick the coin up as a response
to God; that I do trust in Him..... For a short time, at least, I cherish it as
if it were gold. I think it is God's way of starting a conversation with me.
When I
was out shopping today, I found a penny on the sidewalk. I stopped and picked
it up, and realized that I had been worrying and fretting in my mind about
things I can not change. I read the words, "In God We Trust," and had
to laugh. Yes, God, I get the message. It seems that I have been finding
an inordinate number of pennies in the last few months, but then, pennies
are plentiful! And, God
is patient...
These
commandments that I give you
today are
to be upon your hearts.

Miniature
Many
years ago the 'High School Christian' related the following pointed incident: A
young unknown artist wanted to copy a large beautiful picture that hung in a
palace at Rome.
While people were permitted to visit this royal gallery, they of course were
not allowed to take a chair and easel and sit there and paint for long periods
of time. The ambitious young man, however, did make such attempt, but was told
to move. He therefore decided to copy from memory the massive painting, and
reproduce it in miniature. Hour after hour he would spend before the
masterpiece until he could shut his eyes and see it in all its lovely detail.
Then, hurrying home, he would begin to paint. Each day as he gazed on the
picture, he saw some new loveliness. At last his small copy of that outstanding
canvas was finished. The people who came to see it said, "Oh, this is so
beautiful we must go and see the large, original picture", and then
they would hurry off to the palace.
Christian,
would you like to be like that artist? By grace you can be, for you can
give to others a miniature view of the loveliest Person in the universe --- the
Lord Jesus Christ. To do so, however, you must spend much time with Him
each day reading His Word, listening to His voice, and heeding His blessed
admonitions. Then, as time passes, you will become more like Him as the
Holy Spirit impresses the Savior's graces on your character and life. As
a result, others will come to see that the Lord you serve is such a wonderful
Person they will want to know Him too.
May the
Lord help us to become conformed to the image of His Son that we will be
blessed reproductions in miniature of Him who is altogether lovely.
Let us fix
our eyes on Jesus,
the
Author and Perfecter of
our
faith, who for the joy set
before
Him endured the cross,
scorning
its shame, and sat down
at the
right hand of the
throne of
God.

Sarah was a history teacher in a small country school in southern Chile. There were around ten students in each class. One day a colleague asked her to substitute teach a class of twelve-year old children. Sarah cheerfully accepted; besides, it would only be for an hour.
Once Sarah had started the class one of the students asked her to please tell a Bible story about Jesus Christ. The children didn't really understand the reason why Jesus had been born into this world. The teacher began telling them that God had sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be miraculously born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23-25) and that He should do what no man had been able to do, that is, to live a sinless life (1 Juan 3:4, 5), to die for our sins on the cross, and to resurrect from the dead on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4).
Once Sarah had generally described the reason for the Lord's coming, she began to describe the moment in which Jesus Christ was being crucified. In that moment, one of the children stood up and said, "Stop, stop, I should be on the cross, not Jesus Christ; He didn't do anything wrong!" Sarah was moved by the child's reaction, for he understood that nailing the Lord to the cross was unjust. But as she knew the reason for which Christ had to be crucified, she said: "Jesus was doing the will of His Father. He voluntarily desired to die on the cross and resurrect from the dead for your sins (Matthew 26:42; 1 Pedro 2:24; Romans 6:9)".
Can you say, as that child said, "Stop, stop, I should be on the cross, not Jesus Christ; He didn't do anything wrong!"?
When you repent, with your whole heart, of your sin and present yourself, body and soul, to the Lord Jesus Christ, then you will be able to say the following: I am crucified with Christ:
nevertheless I live; yet not I,
but Christ liveth in me:
and the life which I now live in the flesh
I live by the faith of the Son of God,
who loved me, and gave himself for me.
