We are delighted to be offering our guests a whole new fishing experience for 2018. Our Lodge offers some of the most productive fishing on the whole coast of BC. Rodgers North is located near the Northern tip of Vancouver Island and this area is renowned for its wonderful salmon and halibut fishery. World class salmon fishing is within sight of our Lodge and is just a stones throw away. Each evening the large Bay where our Lodge is located, fills with bait fish and in the morning as the tides goes out the bait stacks up at the mouth of the bay and the schools of hungry salmon move into the mouth of the Bay to feed which makes for some fabulously easy exciting calm water fishing. We are half an hour away from BC's World famous Grizzly Bear and Whale watching locations.
Our Lodge is a beautiful first class facility with 13 ensuite bedrooms, 2 lounges and spectacular views from each room. This amazing fishery is particularly suited to our older guests, couples, families and anyone that is prone to seasickness as you will be fishing in calm protected waters. Millions of salmon pass through this area each season on their way to the spawning grounds. This area is also noted for offering some of the best halibut and bottom fishing on the Eastside of Vancouver Island. Early June Fishing Report
The weather has been cool and rainy, but, the fishing has been good with some nice catches of Halibut, Ling Cod and Salmon coming into our Port Eliza location. For the last two or three years we have had over 50K Chinook/King Salmon return to the Conuma Creek watershed each Fall. Conuma Creek is only 40 miles from our Lodge, so, it is like having our own in house fishery. We are expecting that this coming season will follow the pattern of last year and we will have another solid season. The fishing on the Eastside of the Island has been the best in the past 25 years and it has been improving each year. Some of our early season guests in Campbell River have had some good early season fishing as well. The DFO are predicting a monster year for salmon on the Eastside of Vancouver Island. Our new location at Rodgers North is just getting started and I will give you a fishing report on that location in a couple of weeks.
